Psychiatrist
The Outpatient Psychiatrist will expertly perform Psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients with mental health conditions. Collaborates with healthcare team to develop comprehensive treatment plan in accordance to agency, local, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
Must possess a MD degree in psychiatry. Ability to build rapport and establish a strong therapeutic working relationship with clients; Experience providing evaluation and evidence-based psychotherapy with a broad spectrum of clinical presentations; Hold a valid DEA license.
Must be eligible for membership of the Polara Health Medical Staff.
Experience
A minimum of five years' clinical experience in Psychiatry is desired. A minimum of 3 years medical staff supervisory experience in a healthcare setting. Extensive training/experience/knowledge of utilization tools and systems for appropriateness and level of care criteria. Experience in risk-sharing contracts and ability to relate this to the physician membership. Demonstrated experience in modifying provider behavior through reporting and consultation.

Essential Responsibilities
- Provide on-site psychiatric services in an outpatient setting including but not limited to, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of those committed patients referred by the medical, clinical services. May need to cover inpatient shifts if asked.
- Oversee and conduct Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) procedures.
- Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications to address mental health symptoms of patients. Monitoring all psychotropic medication utilization and assisting in coordination of psychotropic medication in a cost-efficient manner.
- Provision of Multidisciplinary Treatment Plans for all applicable patients served per company and facility expectations.
- Documentation in medical records of patient’s history, diagnosis and treatment course or other documentation requirements as outlined by company and facility. Produce timely, accurate, organized clinical documentation of encounters and other relevant reports, logs and required clinical documentation.
- When applicable, screen patients for placement or possible transfer to outside psychiatric treatment facilities or other community mental health facilities. Provide support to staff to gain access to outside acute care facilities, if a higher-level treatment is needed.
- The Psychiatrist is responsible for supporting the strategic plan, managing clinical decision making, and ensuring the quality of medical outcomes.
- The Psychiatrist will help manage and maintain Court Order Evaluation and Court Order clients in the outpatient setting.
- Collaborate and coordinate care with Primary Care and Inpatient Psychiatry to assure integrated Whole Person Care.
- Participate and engage with the Polara Health Medical Staff and Medical Group functions.
- Effectively communicate with referring providers and client family members;
- Comfortable with all age ranges;
- Provide psychiatric assessment;
- Provide medication management.
