Responsibilities

Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a Psychiatrist (PRN) to join our team.

Job Summary

The prerogatives available to a Medical Staff Member are:

  • Admit patients consistent with approved Privileges
  • Exercise Privileges which have been approved
  • Vote on any Medical Staff matter including Bylaws amendment; office selection, and other matters presented at any general or special Staff meetings and on other matters presented at department meetings
  • (4) Hold office in the Medical Staff and in the department to which he is assigned
  • (5) Serve on committees and vote on committee matters.

The Responsibilities Of a Medical Staff Members Are To

  • Contribute to the organizational and administrative Medical Staff activities including quality improvement, risk management, and utilization management, and serve in Medical Staff department offices and on System and Medical Staff committees
  • Participate equitably in Staff functions, at the request of a department or service chair or other Staff officer, including contributing to the System’s medical education programs; serving the on-call roster and accepting responsibility for providing care to any patient requiring on-call coverage in his specialty and consulting with other Staff Members consistent with his delineated Privileges; proctoring LIPs and fulfilling other Staff functions as may reasonably be required
  • Attend at least the minimum number of staff and department meetings specified in the Bylaws or in the Rules and Regulations.

Position duties include assessment of assigned patients, admission orders, and interaction with clinical and physician staff. A multidisciplinary team and administrative staff will support the incumbent in their patient care duties.

Qualifications

Job Specifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description as well as the criteria established by the Medical Staff. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The provider must be available to work in all treatment settings, treat dually diagnosed patients and provide care for the population congruent to their certification.

Education: Medical Licensure in the State of Pennsylvania with at least two years relevant clinical experience in a behavioral health medical setting.

Experience: Two years clinical experience, preferably within the behavioral healthcare field.

Licensure/Certification: Medical Licensure in the State of Pennsylvania. Board eligible or board certified in the specialty of psychiatry.

Knowledge: Must possess relevant clinical knowledge of the medical and psychiatric needs of all age groups, including age specific growth and development, limit setting, behavior management, leadership skills and CPR training.
