The Proofreader works collaboratively within the marketing team.


The ideal candidate is a highly organized, adaptable, independent collaborator. They are comfortable pivoting when needed to effectively prioritize daily tasks and meet project deadlines.


Schedule - This role works on a hybrid schedule following completion of the training period. Mondays and Fridays are worked remotely while Tuesday-Thursday is worked onsite at our corporate office. This is not a fully remote role.


Responsibilities

  • Work with Marketing Specialists, Designers and Production Artists to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all marketing collateral.
  • Review all internal and external company collateral to ensure accuracy and consistency in grammar, spelling, style etc.
  • Correct spelling, typographical, grammatical, factual and style errors on all company collateral and web site.
  • Produce written messaging as needed or assigned.
  • Maintain accurate company style sheet.
  • Maintain accurate master community list.
  • Assist with newsletters as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Two or more years experience in copywriting, editing or proofreading in a corporate environment.
  • Thorough knowledge and comprehension of the English language.
  • Knowledge of the senior housing industry is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills necessary, with working knowledge of Windows software, especially Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with flexibility, ownership and adequate follow-up.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Familiarity with print, design and media terminology a plus.
  • Experience in corporate communications a plus.
