The Position:


The California Department of Justice Information Services Division, Enterprise Services Bureau is seeking a Project Manager (Information Technology Specialist II) to will independently plan, organize, and manage the most complex analytical tasks related to independent oversight of IT projects, including project management of IT projects at the expert level. The ITS II has responsibility for project integration management, scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource planning, communications management, risk management, and project procurement.


The ITS II leads, manages, schedules, and conducts the activities necessary to manage an IT project and system development methods based on state policies, industry best practices, and alignment with the Department and Division's vision, goals, and objectives. The ITS II is also responsible to prepare periodic formal reports and other relevant documents to control agencies such as Department of Finance, California Department of Technology, and Department of General Services. The ITS II will prepare and assist staff in the preparation of Project Approval Lifecycle deliverables, Special Project Reports, Post Implementation Evaluation Reports, Financial Analysis, and/or Economic Analysis Project Cost Worksheets.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Experience performing project management disciplines to plan and manage IT Projects leveraging the Project Approval Lifecycle, California Project Management Framework, and Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Experience with leading, coordinating, and organizing project planning sessions, documenting goals, objectives, and actions needed to accomplish assignments in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Proficient in MS Suite including Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with Budget and Cost Recovery analysis.
  • Strong ability to reason logically, analyze situations, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage several projects concurrently.


Required Experience:


Five years of general information technology experience performing technical and/or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in any of the six domains or emerging information technology fields;


or


120 semester units (or 180 quarter units) from an accredited college or university including at least 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related coursework; or


Any equivalent combination of experience and education.


This position is designated for telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and will require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. While teleworking is a part of this position EXPECT TO WORK IN OFFICE more than half of your work hours.
