Overview
Responsible for supporting coordination of the Un-Monuments projects and programs, including general correspondence, meeting/event planning, other administrative coordination, and tracking project progression and reporting. The Project Coordinator position reports to the Director of Public Art in the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
Through the Un-Monuments projects and other MOAC programs, artists are supported as agents of reflection, collaboration, and activism, whether through process-oriented practice, direct community engagement, and/or as leaders of systems change. This coordinator will be working closely with MOAC on shifting how communities view memorials and expanding to diversify them.

The Project Coordinator position reports to the Director of Public Art in the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
Through the Un-Monuments projects and other MOAC programs, artists are supported as agents of reflection, collaboration, and activism, whether through process-oriented practice, direct community engagement, and/or as leaders of systems change. This coordinator will be working closely with MOAC on shifting how communities view memorials and expanding to diversify them.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and prepare for workshops and events, as well as additional meetings;
- Manage program calendar of events;
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of the projects, budgets, payments, and timelines;
- Support documentation of events;
- Support reporting and evaluation;
- Act as an internal point person for the program by coordinating with the other City of Boston colleagues;
- Draft communications with various involved parties internally and externally.
- Collaborate with other office programs, including Public Art, City Hall Plaza Engagement, Cultural Planning, and Radical Imagination for Racial Justice.
- Requires three plus (3+) years of directly relevant experience.
- Experience in project management, management consulting, or transformation/change management a strong plus; Certificate or Degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, design thinking, organizational development, or related field); Bachelor’s degree replaces two (2) years of required experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required, at minimum.
- Influential, with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and consensus in cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated team player is able to lead cross-functional groups through complex work.
- Comfort with ambiguity.
- Excellent critical thinking.
- Must exercise discretion and sound judgment and be capable of handling confidential and highly sensitive information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
- Bilingual applicants are preferred, with precedence given to Spanish-speaking applicants.
