Job Overview

The Program Manager effectively delivers business results by championing a culture of accountability and consistent project and program management practices. Acting as a facilitator and motivator, the Program Manager works across departments and offices to ensure collaboration, communication, visibility, and the successful delivery of large cross-functional programs across Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com, and their associated mobile apps.


A Program Manager is needed to guide and deliver value to the Product, Engineering, Design, and Analytics teams.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee and be accountable for a portfolio of work that furthers strategic company objectives in partnership with the product management organization.
  • Collaborate with digital strategy & operations and director-level sponsors to support the definition, design, and rollout of new programs or strategic initiatives.
  • Understand the company's and sponsors’ objectives, advising on the necessary programs to achieve success and provide value.
  • Negotiate resources and work timelines to ensure on-time completion and deliver desired business results.
  • Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and work with the team to balance business needs with technical constraints.
  • Communicate the status, risks, and changes of program milestones.
  • Facilitate effective Requirements, Planning, and Release Alignment sessions, engaging product partners effectively and tactfully to drive efficiency and strong outcomes.
  • Support and enforce organizational change management practices.
  • Understand the relationships and impacts of programs and initiatives across business units.
  • Provide recommendations on complex program dependencies that could affect the success of other initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team processes to enhance collaboration.
  • Facilitate program reviews with stakeholders and senior leadership to drive alignment and specific outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the product team on stakeholder-facing metrics, executive summaries and presentations, and reporting.
  • Plan and manage special ad hoc projects using project management best practices.

Skills You Will Need

Strong organizational skills: Ability to plan, monitor, and report on multiple tasks and deadlines.

Experience with delivery methodologies: Knowledge of Lean, Agile/Scrum, and other methodologies.

Facilitation and motivation: Capable of working across departments to ensure collaboration, communication, and visibility.

Team-building and conflict resolution: Naturally exudes qualities that motivate teams and resolve conflicts.

Excellent communication: Strong written and oral communication skills for status updates, risk communication, and stakeholder engagement.

Interpersonal effectiveness: Ability to influence senior management and set expectations for major cross-functional initiatives.

Objective understanding: Clear understanding of company and sponsor objectives to advise on necessary programs for success.

Outcome-driven: Proven track record of achieving results that drive the company and teams towards success.

Critical decision-making: Ability to gather data and make informed, critical decisions quickly.

Experience with software engineering teams: Worked closely with software engineers, QA, and product managers to deliver high-quality products.

Digital Operating Model: Ability to lead and conduct training sessions to align with the Digital Operating Model.

Adaptability: Highly adaptable in a fast-paced environment and able to thrive within ambiguity.

Independence: Capable of working independently with little to no supervision.

Organizational change management: Support and enforce practices for organizational change management.

Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve team processes to enhance collaboration.

Stakeholder engagement: Facilitate program reviews with stakeholders and senior leadership to drive alignment and outcomes.
