Job Description Final ranking will be dependent upon the candidate’s prior educational background, professional experience, research and scholarship, and service. The tenure-track position is a remote/online position in an online program. The successful candidate will also serve as the Program Director. The position requires experience in clinical mental health and/or school counseling, as well as a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Social justice advocacy, anti-racist literature, and cultural competency are strong tenets of the Counselor Education Program and the selected candidate will teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds. Candidates with experience in these areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Major responsibilities include: Instruction of 2 master's level courses per semester (summer, fall, spring) in online formats; Curriculum and program development; Supervision of counseling interns; Student advisement Cooperative work with agencies, schools, and the larger regional community; Promotion of an active research and publication agenda; and Service at the department, school and university levels. Program director duties include supporting student enrollment through coordination with admissions team and faculty, creating and supporting a program mission and vision through strategic planning, providing faculty evaluation and support, and leading the operations of the program. Successful candidates will be expected to build and strengthen collaborative partnerships within and outside of the University. Active involvement in state, regional, and/or national professional associations will also be strongly encouraged and supported. Examples of Duties The faculty member will teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and following the approved course descriptions and curricular guidelines established by the Faculty and approved by the Dean and the Provost. Non-teaching assignments will include instructional development; academic advising and assisting students; participating in Departmental and University-wide activities; serving on committees and task forces; and other appropriate responsibilities as described in the Faculty Status and Welfare Handbook. Schedule This is a 12 month appointed faculty position as governed by the Faculty Status and Welfare Handbook. Days, occasional evening or weekend hours as required. In accordance the Faculty Status and Welfare Handbook: Instructional: Teaching, including the preparation of course syllabi and classes, the preparation and grading of examinations, the supervision of laboratories and other practica, and the direction of theses, honor projects, and independent study work. Academic Advising: Post and observe office hours for purposes of academic advising and student consultation. Meet with students as needed by appointment. Advise and assist students during the ongoing registration process. Maintain general knowledge of degree requirements, programs and course transfer information. Institutional Service: Participation in activities (usually through committee work) designed to advance the mission and quality of the University, School, and Departmental programs. Assignments to routine committee work will be made in consideration of other demands placed on the faculty member by the University. Attendance at Department, School, and general Faculty and University meetings including commencements, convocations, and other official University exercises. Professional Growth and Development: Maintain a program of personal and professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines. Research, publication, and professional activity within one's field of specialization or otherwise directed towards the University's mission. Additional Responsibilities: Additional duties as assigned by the Provost and/or the Dean.
