Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Program Coordinator will report to the Executive Director of MICI-AHEC and is responsible for coordinating and implementing the Mental Health Initiative Program. The incumbent is responsible for leading the planning efforts for the Impact of Trauma conference, implementing the trauma certificate in partnership with the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, recruit students and oversee development and implementation of the Bridges to Behavioral Health Program, and schedule and host community mental health and awareness sessions in collaboration with our partners. The Program Manager interacts with MICI AHEC staff, University of Indianapolis administration, faculty, professional organizations, community and business leaders; and various health care constituencies, agencies and providers.

Responsibilities- Program Coordinator

  • Interact with MICI AHEC staff, University of Indianapolis administration, staff, professional organizations, advisory board, community and business leaders; and various health care constituencies, agencies and providers.
  • Coordinate daily program activities of the Mental Health Initiative Program in which the incumbent will be the lead program point of contact and implementer. Primary responsibilities include: recruitment of students, program design, connect with and engage community partners, connect with and engage students, assist with preparing students to apply for and attend mental health or behavioral health program.
  • Maintain database by making sure all evaluation links and surveys are distributed to student participants for effective analysis of programs.
  • Work collaboratively MICI-AHEC staff, UIndy staff, and community partners, while also assisting team members in their program objective plans.
  • Complete quarterly report of program activities and submit the documents to the project coordinator in a timely fashion based on deadlines.
  • Meet recruitment goals specified within the grant requirements.
  • Create new partnerships that fit within the MICI-AHEC mission.
  • Be willing and prepared to volunteer to participate in community volunteer events and hosts booths at some high schools in the evenings or on weekends.
  • Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s) both the grant supervisor and Executive Director.

Qualifications- Program Coordinator

  • Three years of relevant experience in coordination and facilitation of programs and program oversight.
  • Experience in planning, budgeting and implementing programs and conferences/events for the community or other audiences.
  • Experience in community mental health affairs, needs assessment, or community and corporate partner engagement is required.
  • Program development is essential.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Proficient in computer technology and computer application (Word, Excel, database programs).
  • The position involves regular travel requiring the possession of a valid driver’s license and transportation.
  • Position may require long or irregular hours requiring flexibility in scheduling.
