Professional Development Assistant | AM LAW 50 Firm | New York, NY Our prestigious and globally recognized AM LAW 50 client is hiring an entry level Professional Development Assistant in their NY City office. This role will work closely with the Chief Learning & Development Officer, the East Coast Director of Professional Development, the Learning and Development team members across the firm, and New York lawyers and staff in coordinating lawyer training, MCLE accreditation, and professional development initiatives. This candidate has primary responsibility for handling the CLE tracking and processing for all NY-admitted lawyers, coordinating practice group training programs, and assisting with the logistics around orientation programming. The role would support the NY Professional Development Manager as well as the NY-based Director of Professional Development and the broader professional development team. This role is heavily administrative. The ideal candidate will be/have:

  • It would be helpful if candidates have relevant administrative experience in an internship, part-time position, or full-time position. Previous law firm or professional development experience is a plus but not required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the coordination of lawyer training programs and initiatives.
  • Manage meeting and program logistics including scheduling, securing meeting rooms, coordinating meeting room set-up and materials, and troubleshooting.
  • Create and develop visual presentations using desktop-publishing applications.
  • Work independently and within a team on ongoing and special nonrecurring projects.
  • Schedule and attend in-person and virtual planning meetings among team members, participate in team meetings, and communicate continuously.
  • Organize and analyze program evaluations and recommend program adjustments.
  • Coordinate AV and IT program needs, locally and nationally.
  • Assist with tracking NY-admitted lawyers’ MCLE compliance using the MCLE database; communicate with NY-admitted lawyers regarding their compliance status.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating all CLE and lawyer training and professional development files and records in NY.
  • Generate and issue CLE certificates of attendance for lawyers attending accredited Sidley programs.
  • Help manage the Lawyer Learning and Professional Development intranet site.
  • Use online tools, produce data reports and analyses as requested, and develop visuals for internal team and firm-wide reports.
  • Proofread all work with attention to detail and accuracy, make all necessary changes, and perform other substantive and administrative duties as needed.


REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer

Preferred

  • Experience coordinating lawyer training and/or professional development programs and initiatives
  • Large law firm experience
  • Project management and/or program design experience
  • Knowledge of MCLE rules and procedures
  • Proficiency and aptitude with software applications and design tools for creating and formatting graphs, charts, and other visuals or the willingness and ability to learn
