Production & Technical Manager

Role: Touring Attraction Production & Technical Manager

Position Type: Contract with the opportunity to become salaried.

Compensation: $90,000 per year + transport, accommodation and per diem

Location: On Tour in North America   

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Production and Technical Manager with a passion for video games, live experiences and travel to join our Location Based touring experiences company. In this role, you are an administrative and operating link between the touring attraction and the remotely based Tour Operations Director, providing leadership and daily oversight to the local technical team.   

In addition to the ability to work independently and efficiently, we are looking for an individual who understands the logistics and technical aspects of interactive touring production and the critical role they play in delivering an elevated experience to every guest. The Production Manager will engage a local technician in each market to ensure a flawless environment and seamless technical operation, allowing the Attraction operating team to deliver excellent guest experiences.  

On tour, you will work closely with the Attraction Manager and the merchandise manager who will also report to the Tour Operations Director. You will manage a small locally cast and contracted technical team to support the Attraction Operating Team.

The touring experience will be visiting top-tier cities in North America for runs of 14 to 20 weeks per city, playing multiple cities per year.

ABOUT MINECRAFT EXPERIENCE:

The Villager Rescue is an immersive, active and interactive Minecraft adventure that will encourage guests to become a hero of the roughly one-hour experience. Led by a pair of digital guides and human facilitators, guests will explore multiple biomes, engage in active gameplay, collect ingredients and solve puzzles to try and rescue the villagers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with the producers and the Tour Operations Director to develop a detailed and actionable experience staffing and operating plan that consistently delivers a flawless Minecraft Experience presentation in every tour city.
• Collaborate with the producers, the Tour Operations Director and the Attraction Manager to develop a detailed and actionable transfer plan, taking point on the ground for the movement of the experience between cities.
• Work with the Tour Operations Director to select and engage local vendors and staffing agencies to support Install, Dismantle and Operations.
• Coordinate with selected local vendors and staffing agencies to provide the equipment and services required to achieve the on-time, on-budget, and on-brand Installation, Dismantle, and Operations in each city. 
• Directly lead and manage the scheduling, orientation, training, and motivation of the locally hired technical operating team in each tour city to ensure team members are prepared and inspired to take on their respective roles.
• During the experience operating period in each city, be directly responsible for monitoring and maintaining the physical and technical elements of the experience.  
• Inform and update the Producers and Tour Operations Director regarding operational matters requiring attention so that necessary support can be provided. 
• Review, update and edit the Daily Report for clarity before submitting (on-line) to the Tour Operations Director.
• Comfort with a touring, road managerial position that will require working irregular hours, weekends, and holidays, as well as the need to be on call to respond to time-sensitive matters when the experience operation requires.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• A love of Minecraft and passion to share your excitement with the team and our guests  
• 2 to 5 years of production management experience, preferably in touring experience or theatrical environments. 
• Familiarity with attraction and touring entertainment operating structures, including remote collaboration and support from management and different functional departments.
• Understanding of interactive, video projection, lighting and audio systems.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Proven skills and comfortable leading diverse teams in installing and dismantling the experience.  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• A personal interest and passion for the attraction and entertainment industry. 
• Interest in and knowledge of video games and what makes for a fun and socially engaging gameplay experience.
• Proficient in all MS Office programs, including but not limited to excel spreadsheets.
