Primary Function

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing the activities of leads and associates with an emphasis on product quality, on-time delivery, cost, and factory production efficiency. Additionally, the Supervisor supports key business metrics, general housekeeping, and workplace safety. The Supervisor is also responsible for the training and development of employees, ensuring adherence to handbook guidelines and rules.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Foster strong interaction among all shift management, leads, team members to effectively communicate production concerns.
  • Identify resource needs using data such as time studies and capacity to ensure the production schedule is met.
  • Set the direction for manufacturing goals and direct leads and production associates to meet day-to-day production needs.
  • Ensure material is handled adequately to prevent damage or loss.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes needed to build a quality product are in place and current.
  • Address any CPAR (Corrective Actions) with thorough analysis and close them within the required timeframe.
  • Monitor and manage scrap and DMRs in real-time with appropriate root cause and corrective action analysis.
  • Ensure cycle counts are performed as needed to maintain accurate WIP counts.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns, working collaboratively with HR on personnel issues.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs and use the line of management.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Able to work outside the regular schedule as determined by production needs and goals.

Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a technical or business-related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • Experience in smart electronics (i.e., microinverters) manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficiency in 5S, continuous improvement, effective time management, and people management skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of supervising direct reports on an assembly line.
  • Understanding of manufacturing jargon such as KPIs, data analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience conducting corrective actions, problem-solving, and taking a proactive approach to preventive actions.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data-driven analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience working with industrial manufacturing equipment on the production line.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Use of hands and tools to properly perform job functions.
  • Work in an ESD environment while wearing ESD equipment.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Stooping, bending, stretching, and reaching outward and overhead.
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking may be required.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of forty (40) pounds.
  • Willingness to cross-train into other departments.
