Production Supervisor

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assembly and crating departments, approximately 10-20 associates.
  • Plan and prioritize production schedules to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure efficient utilization of resources and timely completion of projects.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, purchasing, and quality assurance teams to resolve production-related issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies required for production activities. Create purchase orders and requisitions when required.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics such as productivity, yield, and quality to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to coordinate workflow and address any cross-functional issues.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with factory policies and quality standards.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to production activities, including performance metrics, inventory levels, and safety incidents.
  • Lead or participate in department Kaizen events to solve the root-cause of production deficiencies.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement at an “ownership level”. This role will be required to gather all resources, hold appropriate meetings, gain buy-in from all stakeholders, complete the project, and monitor progress post-completion.
  • Work with other Production Supervisors to clear job shortages in other departments and communicate off-shift priorities in assembly/crating.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Supervisor in an Engineered-To-Order manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Can maintain composure in stressful environments, deal well with ambiguity, properly approach difficult-employees, and has a “can-do” positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively. Preference will be given to those who have worked in assembly and machining environments.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable spending up to 75% of the day on the shop floor, maintaining the production flow by monitoring progress and troubleshooting issues.
  • Physically capable of standing/walking up to 75% of the shift, frequent bending, able to lift up to 25 lbs infrequently as needed.
  • Prefers a dynamic environment. Product is high-mix, low-volume, and the right candidate will thrive in a non-defined environment where they have the freedom to creatively solve problems regarding engineering, purchasing, quality, scheduling, and staffing.
