Job Summary:Supervises and coordinates the activities of the production department in setting up and operation of production machines in the production of aluminum extrusion parts; develop and implement quality systems (ISO9001 and IATF16949) and audits; trains workers by explaining and demonstrating work methods and techniques in accordance with quality systems; schedules production within specific cost and quality standards. Essential Functions:
Expert in managing people
Requires constant physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying forging products weighing up to 50 pounds
Requires the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed and leading by example when it comes to all safe work practices
Develops and implements quality systems (ISO9001 and IATF16949) and audits
Reviews production jobs and schedules to ascertain product data, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products to plan production department operations and meets with manager and shift leader to explain details of jobs prior to assigning out to produce
Plans production operation, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, utilizing knowledge of production process and methods, and workforce requirements
Reviews production and operation reports and resolves operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays
Manage all processes to KPI and production needs
Inspects equipment to insure specific operational performance and confers with personnel to establish production, quality control standards, and continuous process improvement
Initiate 5S and safety improvements
Document production and production problems, then communicate solutions to all levels of the organization
Regularly reviews jobs and coordinates with department managers to ascertain and plan production schedules
Trains workers by explaining product specifications and by demonstrating work methods and techniques.
Monitors training and evaluates skill levels and development of operators
Inspects finished product for conformance to specifications.
Develops and implements new product launches in accordance with quality systems standards
Supervises all production department employees and initiates personnel action such as safety training, promotions, performance reports, transfers, discharges, disciplinary measures, and resolves workers grievances
Manage all personnel data using HRIS to document coaching, PTO, points, etc. for all direct reports
Performs other duties as required
Job Related Functions:
Supervisory and organizational skills; computer and mechanical skills; knowledge of production process and properties of non-ferrous metals (preferred)
Observes OSHA, EPA and Company rules and regulations concerning personal safety
Exposed to temperature extremes
Enforces company policies
Responsible for Kaizen and 5S
Educational Requirements:
Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
7-10 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
