Position Summary And Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to

Oversee production lines of a fast-paced meat cutting facility including ground beef, steaks, and/or marinating products.

  • Council and tutor employees on a daily basis.
  • Estimate manpower requirements and select qualified employees to perform necessary work.
  • Assign employees to jobs and instruct them in the proper procedures that will ensure quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all established employee policies.
  • Initiate discipline measures as required .
  • Document and maintain records on all employees relating to discipline, promotion and attendance.
  • Train crew leaders to assume supervisory position in the event of absence or promotion.
  • Create an environment without fear that promotes creativity and process improvement.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure that production schedules are met, quality exceeds customer expectations and all HACCP and safety regulations are followed.
  • Prepare reports concerning departmental activities and complete daily paperwork accurately.
  • Recommend improvements and modifications in the organization, procedures, policies, standards and methods in order to improve the system.
  • Check weights on all meats to ensure good net weights on products and piece count needed for daily orders.
  • Conduct daily safety inspection and monitoring to ensure quality and consistency of yields.
  • Ensure orders are filled and plan production activity on a daily basis.
  • Conduct performance appraisals as directed.
  • Provide feedback and assistance to direct reports.
  • As production demand varies, all Production Supervisors are expected to have hour and day flexibility.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Partner with supervisor and FSQA team on product quality issues.
  • Maintain all work surfaces, tools, and equipment clean and sanitized.
  • Always follow and m anage GMP , USDA, HACCP, SSOP, food and employee safety policies, rules and regulations.
  • Always follow OSHA and the Ben E. Keith employee safety policy, rule s and regulations such as Lock Out Tag Out.
  • Wear required protective and food safety equipment at all times while in the production area.

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of meat cutting and/or cooked foods .
  • Must have basic knowledge of HACCP and general food safety .
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English (bilingual a plus) .
  • Must be computer literate .
  • Must be able to stand on your feet at least 85% of the day .
  • Must be able to work in the cold (45º F environment)
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.  
  • Familiarity with pallet jack, forklift, or other industrial vehicles. 
  • Excellent teamwork skills. 
  • Excellent c ommunication s kills
  • Self-Starter.  
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic math knowledge .

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent ly, safely , and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state , and local standards.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift , and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on your feet all day and work in a cold (32-40º) environment.
