Role Description
This is an on-site internship role as a Production/Sewing Intern located in San Jose, CA. As an Production/Sewing Intern. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated interns to join our team for the upcoming season. The intern will work closely with our product development team to create prototypes of our apparel products, and will be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to the prototyping process.
Please note this is a non-paid internship position initially, expected to last for 4-6 months, with the potential to transition into a full-time paid position with future benefits, including company stocks. The preferred starting date is ASAP.
Responsibilities
Create prototypes of apparel & pet products using various materials and techniques, including sewing, draping, and patternmaking
Assist with sourcing materials and supplies needed for prototyping
Participate in design meetings and provide input on the prototyping process
Assist with other tasks related to the apparel design and production process as needed
Assisting on assembling textile equipment and machine installation
Assisting engineering techs in day-to-day operations
Assisting documentation for internal communication and record keeping
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in apparel production, fashion design, or a related field
Must have experience with industrial sewing
Experience or interest with draping, patternmaking and performance textiles
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
Plus if intern is familiar with Adobe Illustrator and other design software
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Interest in sustainable & circular apparel & pet product manufacturing and entrepreneurship
Computer savvy will be a plus
Hands on learning, innately curious and good at problem-solving, detail-oriented
Considers themselves patient and handy (working/building using their hands), being comfortable with a tool set, and is able to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pound
Interest in interacting within manufacturing equipment, mechanical assembly, or setting up apparel machinery
Willing to do hands-on experience with experimentation and testing techniques with the use of equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose limitations on advanced prototype manufacturing machines.
