Description

The Production Manager will oversee all sign and barricade manufacturing and fabrication operations from receiving and processing orders submitted by branches, scheduling and supervising production of signs and barricades, controlling quality, scheduling deliveries and dispatching of orders, personnel staffing and scheduling, ordering materials, and inventory management. The Manufacturing Operations Manager ensures policies and procedures are followed and develops processes that maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

  • Plan, organize, direct and optimize day-to-day operations of sign and barricade production.
  • Maintain and increase production, minimize unnecessary costs, maintain quality standards and ensure all safety standards are met.
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time delivery of orders.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of diresction and focus.
  • Optimize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Manage branch employees, recruit, and develop branch staff.
  • Collect and analyze data to eliminate waste or unnecessary overtime.
  • Commit to, implement and maintain all safety standards in strict compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Develop systems, processes and metrics to track and optimize productivity.
  • Set performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Address employee issues or grievances, coach, train and discipline.
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
  • Effective communication with customers, employees and supervisor.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a production manager in a similar field.
  • Proven managerial experience, including team leadership.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory and stewardship processes.
  • Experience managing shipping and receiving logistics.

Requirements

  • Repeated physical effort including standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds.
  • Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively.
  • Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which may include heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction materials.
  • Maintaining constant awareness of surroundings including movement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities.
  • Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans.
  • Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone.
  • Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor.
  • Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime, working individually and as a team.
  • Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
  • Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft suite of tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint at a minimum.
