Highside Distilling is a small family-owned and operated distillery in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, producing a unique lineup of Gins, Amari, and Single Malt Whiskey. All of our spirits are handcrafted using local ingredients with an emphasis on bold, assertive flavors, capturing the essence of the Pacific Northwest, while retaining inspiration from traditional styles. Our distillery and tasting room is located on Bainbridge Island, just a short ferry ride away from downtown Seattle. We're looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our small team as we expand our brand and help grow the local craft spirits movement as a whole.


The Production Assistant will be involved in all aspects of the spirit production lifecycle across our full range of distilled spirits, including gins, whiskeys, and amari. This will include processes associated with milling grain, mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging, proofing, macerating botanicals, bottling, packaging, and other production-related activities. The Production Assistant will be working alongside the Production Manager to execute all tasks needed to support daily distillery operations. 


Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Manager with all aspects related to producing our full-line of handcrafted spirits, including but not limited to: running mashes for our single malt whiskey, starting/monitoring fermentation activity, operating the still, cleaning/sanitation, filling/emptying barrels, post-distillation processing of spirits, and bottling/packaging
  • Role will also include various aspects of quality control during all phases of production, along with associated data entry and record-keeping.
  • Includes ability to assist in the Tasting Room and participation in on/offsite events (as needed)


Qualifications

  • Heavy lifting (~50lbs), along with kneeling/bending/squatting/overhead lifting to support production operations.
  • Ability to safely operate stand-behind forklift
  • Work successfully with others, as well as independently
  • Highly organized and ability to multi-task 
  • Self-starter and positive attitude
  • Eagerness to learn the industry and grow to take on additional responsibilities
  • Experience with brewing or distillation a plus, but not required
