Hourly Rate: $25 - $45 per hour based on experience

Location: In-Person; NYC Metro Area

BlackHouse is a NYC based Women and Black owned event production agency founded in 2016 with a mission to create experiences worth framing for corporations, brands, and non-profit organizations. Job Description: BlackHouse is seeking freelance Production Assistants to join our team and assist with in-person events in the New York City Metro Area throughout the year. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about live events and have previous experience in a fast-paced live production environment. (Note: there is no start date for this role, we are seeking candidates for future events / contracts)

Responsibilities

  • Work will range from helping setting up the event and overseeing vendor installations/strike processes.
  • Loading and unloading a production van or truck.
  • Assist Lead Producer and Production Designer with on-site administrative tasks.
  • Assist with the setup of BOH production office area, event activation areas and storage areas.
  • Cross-checking rental equipment inventory lists.
  • Cross-checking BlackHouse pack list and on-site production supply inventory
  • Assist with general production/stagehand tasks during event setup, run of show, and strike; tasks include, but not limited to:
    • Moving crates and decor for set up and strike
    • Taping cables
    • Pipe and drape setup
    • Organize dead case storage
    • Assist with general cleanliness and upkeep of FOH and BOH production areas
  • Be the lead or a backup driver should the booked driver fall ill and obey traffic laws when driving.
  • Coordinating, ordering and/or receiving BlackHouse production crew meals.
Qualifications:2+ year experience in live event production environment.

  • Clean driving record and ability to drive a transit van or a small 14’ box truck; CDL license is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong work ethic centered on excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships and communications with all production and technical parties.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds comfortably.
  • Experience handling and moving production equipment under team lead supervision (Lighting/Video/Audio).
  • Good listening skills and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to follow paperwork related to production (production schedules, stage layouts, venue floor plans, pack lists, etc.).
  • Operating common office equipment (printer, scanner, copier).
  • Experience with the Google suite (Gmail, Google Drive/Docs).
  • Familiarity with both Mac/PC computers and tech savvy a plus.
