Position Summary

Manages a group of Project Engineering Managers responsible for bringing new accessories and performance parts to market to increase parts sales/profits and increase customer satisfaction for specific vehicles. Focuses on product engineering/development to bring to market new accessories. Maintains responsibility for joint development activity with Subaru Corporation (SBR) and providing leadership to Project Engineering Managers.

Major Responsibilities
  • Manages a team of Project Engineering Managers to ensure on schedule launch of quality products within cost targets.
  • Maintains critical communication with Subaru Corporation (SBR), Product Suppliers, Product Management, Product Sourcing, Accessory Marketing, and other Subaru of America (SOA) departments as needed. Gathers input from these departments to ensure departmental and supplier coordination for a smooth development process leading to on time product launches. SBR communications include late evening or early morning video conferences and calls (outside of typical working hours).
  • Manages a group of Project Engineering Managers to determine previously launched accessory applicability to select new model vehicles. Ensures that relevant information is communicated to Associate Director of Product Planning and Development for communication to relevant departments.
  • Produces and maintains appropriate project status communication documents for assigned vehicles. Reports project status to Associate Director of Product Planning and Development for communication to relevant departments.
  • Maintains responsibility for the project management/development of accessory programs for assigned vehicles from concept through approval. Ensures that the accessory meets feature requirements, validation requirements, cost targets, and established engineering approval and availability dates.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Supports the Accessory Marketing Manager by providing accessory related resources for promotional video and photography in advance of launch.
  • Supports the Inventory Planning and Distribution Manager through communication of new accessory approvals and expected availability in advance of launch.

Required Skills and Personal Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and relevant experience required; advanced degree such as MBA preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of the product development process.
  • Product engineering and development experience, product manufacturing knowledge, negotiation skills, quality control management, strategic planning and analysis, general business management, budget control, and general sales/marketing knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective supervisory skills to maximize employee productivity and job satisfaction.

Education/Experience Requirements: BA/BS with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience

Work Environment
  • Required Travel: Less than 15%-30%

Compensation: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $11500- $159200 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
