Product Development Specialist Polymers

Job Purpose

As a Flooring Product Development Chemist, your primary role is to spearhead the creation of new products and oversee the upkeep of the existing product portfolio within the global and regional technology segments, supporting the Protective and Marine Coatings (PMC) business.

Roles And Responsibilities -

  • Development and Testing: Follow established experimental procedures, develop new procedures, and conduct performance testing of both new and existing products.
  • Data Management and Experimentation: Generate reliable data and actively contribute to the design of experiments.
  • Project Leadership: Lead independent projects and manage specific aspects of larger projects, ensuring successful execution.
  • Technical Solutions: Provide innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Coordination: Plan and coordinate technical activities for new projects, collaborating with other chemists and field technical service personnel.
  • Consultation and Input: Consult with internal chemists, technical service personnel, customers, and sales teams to gather input and feedback.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all company policies, business strategies, and governmental regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.

Must Have -

  • Educational Background: MS in Chemistry or Polymer Science with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in formulating with epoxy, vinyl ester, polyurethane, polyurea, and polyaspartics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork, with the ability to accept and deliver meaningful feedback.
  • Research Skills: Ability to search, interpret literature, and stay aware of competitor technology and intellectual property.
  • Software Proficiency: Competency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with customers and internal personnel.
  • Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel up to 30% for product launches, field support, and meetings, including overnight stays.
