The Project Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and services necessary for specific projects within an organization. This role involves collaborating with the strategic sourcing leaders, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. The Project Buyer plays a critical role in supporting project objectives by effectively managing procurement activities and optimizing costs while maintaining quality standards and adhering to project timelines as well as executing on the strategy of the strategic sourcing organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with strategic sourcing on market research and supplier evaluations to identify potential vendors capable of meeting project needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain quotes, issue purchase orders, and track order status to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate purchases, leverage volume discounts, and optimize costs without compromising quality or project objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve any procurement-related issues or conflicts that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and vendor communications for documentation and audit purposes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements related to procurement and supply chain management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies and implementing best practices to enhance procurement processes and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a minimum of 5 years in a purchasing or buying role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
  • Familiarity with sourcing tools and technologies, such as e-procurement systems and supplier databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, kneel, crouch and balance, frequently.
  • Ability to climb, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc., using feet, legs and/or hands and arms frequently.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 75lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to sit/stand frequently for long and/or intermittent periods of time.
  • Time spent between general office environment (with normal sitting, standing and minimal, nominal lifting) and active construction site visits.
  • Time spent on active job sites include subject to noise, being in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical power and control systems, and high places.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required at active job sites.

Travel Requirements:

This position may require up to 25% travel to various sites.

Base Salary Range and Other Relevant Information:

The base salary range for this role is $73,900 to $110,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
