Talent & Culture at PDT Partners

PDT Partners – a quantitative investment manager – is seeking an intellectually curious, independent, collaborative professional interested in learning about and contributing to a world-class, quantitative trading business to be part of its Procurement Team. This position has firm-wide impact and provides an opportunity to interact with various internal stakeholders and external vendors.

The Procurement team oversees our software, technology, data, and service provider purchases, and ultimately helps PDT manage risk and contribute to the company’s bottom line. This is a broadly visible team in the way that we manage supplier relationships, oversee contractual negotiations, and own purchasing processes.

We’re looking for a Procurement Analyst to join our team. This person will own vendor engagement and work closely with technology and research teams to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective item procurement. Success in this role will be defined by ensuring PDT’s systems accurately reflect the procurement transactions we conduct and owning the support of asset management practices. The Procurement Analyst will be highly-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused, and will have a general interest in procurement and financial services.

Why join us? PDT Partners has a stellar 30+ year track-record and a reputation for excellence. Our goal is to be the best quantitative investment manager in the world—measured by the quality of our products, not their size. PDT’s very high employee-retention rate speaks for itself. Our people are intellectually exceptional, and our community is close-knit, down-to-earth, and diverse.

Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase requests and ensure we negotiate the best combination of provider and price
  • Work with PDT’s legal team to support administrative aspects of contract negotiations
  • Manage the review and renewal/cancellation of expiring contracts
  • Coordinate the delivery of purchased goods
  • Ensure incoming invoices are reconciled with purchase orders and delivered goods, working with vendors to reconcile any discrepancies
  • Ensure purchases are correctly accounted for and update systems when adjustments are required
  • Support asset management efforts and related inventory activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve our operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead projects to improve our operations
  • Develop and manage relationships with strategic vendors in conjunction with PDT colleagues

Below is a list of skills and experiences we think are relevant. Even if you don’t think you’re a perfect match, we still encourage you to apply because we are committed to developing our people.

  • 2+ years of professional experience
  • Obsessive attention to detail, extremely meticulous, and highly organized
  • Strong customer focus and a drive to exceed expectations
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities and ensure their timely completion
  • Motivated to work independently and take ownership to see projects through to completion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable liaising with vendors and highly technical internal clients
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel and databases
  • Familiarity with technology products, services, and suppliers is helpful but not required
  • Experience with procurement and/or reviewing contracts is helpful but not required

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from rigorous 4-year program

The salary range for this role is between $100,000 and $155,000. This range is not inclusive of any potential bonus amounts. Factors that may impact the agreed upon salary within the range for a particular candidate include years of experience, level of education obtained, skill set, and other external factors.
