SUMMARY

The Process Engineer plays a critical role in developing the company's water treatment solutions, through New Product Development (NPD) projects across their Water Technologies product portfolio globally. The Process Engineer will build and utilize applications expertise to for the development and optimization of advanced oxidation, disinfection, filtration, and contaminant removal unit process operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Process Development: prepares, reviews, and approves detailed design packages including PFDs, PIDs, functional control descriptions, design of experiments, equipment start-up plans, pilot programs, performance test plans and operation instructions.


Process Engineering: prepares and reviews design calculations based on field conditions and refines operational parameters to optimize system performance.


Piloting: oversees piloting study activities, plant (process) audits, analyzes data, and provides process expertise in the pilot report and recommendations.


Product Improvements: liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal Applications Engineering, Sales, Operations and Service team members to analyze problems to generate corrective actions to improve product/system performance.


Risk Management: performs risk assessments, engineering design reviews, HAZOP studies, and supports development of inherently safe and sustainable technologies.


Reporting: write technical reports, summaries, white papers and presentations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A working knowledge and experience in the operation and troubleshooting of filtration, separation, sorption, biological and physical/chemical treatment systems.
  • A working understanding of various water and wastewater treatment processes, and engineering/construction business practices.
  • Operating knowledge of major mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, strong computer skills necessary – especially with spreadsheets, report writing and other data management.
  • Sound reasoning and logical thinking abilities required – especially necessary for trouble shooting problems at existing facilities and for performing pilot studies.
  • Must have advanced mathematical skills necessary for performing process design calculations.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Science or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in process or applications engineering, with hands-on laboratory experience within water treatment preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.
  • Travel may be required up to 30% of the time on product development activities in commissioning lab or field pilots, to include start-up and test equipment, calibrate instruments.
