Job Description
The Entry-Level Process Engineer focuses on developing process and simulation models for the life sciences industry. Typical modeling tasks include mass and energy balances, batch scheduling and debottlenecking, utility consumption, resource and labor requirements, and cost of goods analysis. This role is expected to work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, realizable, and complete process model.

Job Description
The Entry-Level Process Engineer focuses on developing process and simulation models for the life sciences industry. Typical modeling tasks include mass and energy balances, batch scheduling and debottlenecking, utility consumption, resource and labor requirements, and cost of goods analysis. This role is expected to work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, realizable, and complete process model.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for generating batch and continuous process and scheduling models
- Work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, realizable, and complete process model
- Expected to self-check one’s own work but communicate often with peers and Supervisor
- Work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor or mentor
- Works on matters of basic complexity in a support role under the direction of more experienced Process Engineers
- Block & Process Flow Diagrams
- Process mass and energy model
- Batch scheduling and debottlenecking
- Cost of goods analysis
Minimum Qualifications
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in chemical or bioprocess engineering
- 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
- Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
- Fundamental experience with batch processing and scheduling
- Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations
- Fundamental experience with the chemistry / biochemistry
- Fundamental experience with process modeling, material and energy balances and basic sizing calculations
- Strong communication skills and ability to participate in internal cross-discipline project team coordination
- Proficient in batch and continuous process modeling software, such as, SuperPro Designer, Aspen Plus
- Proficient in batch scheduling software SchedulePro
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
- Proficiency in developing process and cost models in Microsoft Excel
