POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Process Engineer

Department: Staple Fiber Manufacturing

Function: Staple Product and Process Control and Development

FUNCTION

Under the general supervision of Technical Manager, makes recommendations for changes in process or equipment in the Staple Fiber Area from raw material handling through finished product packaging.

KNOW-HOW

This position required a B. S. Degree in a technical discipline or a demonstrated proficiency of engineering methods, with 0-5 years of experience.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. IMPROVES the efficiency of existing processes and equipment.

2.IMPROVES the yield and quality of the product.

3.DEFINES and SOLVES problems that cause process upsets and quality or yield deficiencies.

4.ASSISTS in ensuring proper product flow to maximize production efficiency.

5.WORKS with department and maintenance supervision to define, coordinate and resolve problems in the department.

6.IMPROVES production processes to the economical optimum.

7.COLLECTS data and ANALYZES data to make recommendations for product or process changes.

8.COORDINATES with other plant groups and outside vendors, when needed, to solve present or potential future problems.

9.COORDINATES with Engineering and Maintenance on Capital Projects.

10. PROVIDES troubleshooting assistance to area supervision.

11.PERFORMS other duties and special projects as directed.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Works to solve process control problems by initiating action to correct malfunctioning equipment and/or operating procedures which adversely affect product quality. Requires innovative and analytical independent thinking and action. Must have a professional approach to his entire job.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The incumbent has contributory accountability for production facilities and equipment valued at approximately $20,000,000 and an operating budget of approximately $19,000,000.
