Summary Of Primary Function/General Purpose Of Position
The Birth Registrar provides clerical support for the Obstetrical department and Health Information Management departments in the areas of processing, data abstraction, and electronic data submission of birth and death certificates to the Department of Health Vital Statistics in the state in which the site and birth is located.
Essential Job Functions
Completes state birth registry worksheet by extracting data from the medical record as required for birth certificate and death registration completion
Assists mother to complete state birth registry worksheet
Completes and notarizes paternity affidavits per state requirements
Compiles all worksheet information required and inputs all required information into the electronic birth/death registry into the state electronic vital statistics registry
Attends state/county updates for birth registry regulations
Submits all state required elements in the submissions.
