This is a 2nd pressman or Feeder operator position depending on the skill level of the individual. If the individual has no experience they will enter in as a Feeder Operator and learn the role in hopes of progressing to 2nd pressman.
The Feeder Operator is responsible for keeping the press full of the required substrate while maintaining the appropriate press speed. He or she will help maintain ink fountains and help with make ready, wash up and learn the responsibilities of the Second Pressman.
Primary Responsibilities
The Feeder Operator must keep the press full of the required substrate while maintaining the appropriate press speeds. He or she must be able to feed all substrates, sizes and calipers
The Feeder Operator will be responsible for troubleshooting feed issues and problem substrates.
A Feeder Operator must be able to handle the pressure that can come in a deadline driven environment and still be able to deal with others in a respectful way.
A Feeder Operator must be able to teach others the same skills.
Follow all plant processes and plant standard operating procedures including FSC, SFI, PEFC and AIB requirements.
Abides by quality standard guidelines, works to improve in the process
Maintain the press in a safe operating condition.
Maintain the press in good working order through preventative maintenance.
