Position SummaryThe President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the chief administrative and program officer for the Oakridge organization. Responsible for a complex, multi-dimensional corporate structure comprised of three housing and one human service corporation, the CEO will provide the overall strategic and operational leadership for team members, programs and execution of the organization’s mission. Reporting to and working with a 24-member Board of Directors, the CEO oversees all programs, operations, and business plans, ensuring all strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization. The CEO will ensure that the organization’s fiscal, fundraising, marketing, human resource and technology platforms support the needs of this unique housing and human service organization and ensure the highest possible quality of service to clients. .Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities ("Must Haves")

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible visionary and strategic executive leadership experience in a non-profit, affordable housing, and/or community development-focused organization of comparable size and complexity. Passion for the Oakridge mission and a commitment to serving people.
  • Proven experience leading a diverse workforce and a large group. Team leadership and supervisory management skills; possess both a servant leader and a mentoring, coaching, and development spirit. Ability to communicate and relate to various demographic groups, including residents, government representatives, community leaders, team members, board, donors, funders, infants, and youth.
  • Track record of successful fundraising, including grants and fund development from corporations, individuals, and philanthropic organizations.
  • Strong business acumen and excellent financial and organizational risk management capabilities coupled with well-developed community engagement, advocacy, networking, and outreach capabilities.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in strategic planning, operational excellence, financial analysis, KPI and metrics development, process improvement, retention, and change management. Organizational Overview Who We Are Children achieving and families thriving has been the overarching mantra of Oakridge Neighborhood since its founding 55 years ago. Initiated by the Des Moines Area Council of Churches, Oakridge Neighborhood welcomed its first residents in 1969 when Air Force Master Sergeant Jack D. Edwards, his wife and four children moved into their three-bedroom apartment home. Since that time Oakridge has served the housing and human service needs of over 20,000 families and 75,000 individuals. Our culturally rich neighborhood is a place where people can raise families while working toward sustained self-reliance. Our campus has 339 safe, affordable housing units where families gain stability while preparing for the next step in their life’s journey. In addition, we provide wraparound services for residents and the greater community, designed to create opportunities for individual and family success. Each year, Oakridge Neighborhood Services provides life-changing programming for over 140 children in our nationally accredited early childhood program. Nearly 550 slots are filled by K-12 students participating in our afterschool and out-of-school programs, and over 1500 adults are served by our robust family and workforce programs.
