Focus on developmentally appropriate education emphasizing physical, emotional, and mental health. The curriculum at a Sea Turtle preschool focuses on creativity and self-expression through activities that include dress-up, play-acting, cooking, building, singing, and painting. Outdoor play in all seasons is also a major part of our Sea Turtle early childhood education. This exposes the young students to nature and the larger world around them, as well as varied opportunities to be active and calm.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the schools philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the courses of study.
Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
Maintains accurate and complete student records.
Assesses student strengths and weaknesses, provides appropriate activities to address student needs and generates progress reports as required.
Refers students with suspected leaning problems to appropriate support personnel.
Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
Complete the VPK assessments, offering input in the children’s progress and development through both visual and written observations.
Teach and promote proper hygiene – both for the classroom and the children.
Preparing Tuesday folders.
Preparing narratives
Communicate with parents and families.
Follow all DCF and ELC rules, policies and guidelines.
Participate in staff meetings
Attend school festivities
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong time management skills.
Strong organizational skills.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Development software and Word Processing software.
Ability to manage students.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Education and Experience:
Complete required DCF continuing education hours (10 CEU’s) each school year
Complete both CPR and First Aide Training
Pass a Level 2 Background Check
Physical Requirements:
Employee should be comfortable with prolonged sitting and standing.
Employee should be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
