As a Prepress Technician I, you'll play a vital role in connecting educators and librarians with the essential products they need, ensuring they receive the highest quality supplies on time.
Position Summary And Essential Duties
As a Prepress Technician, you will prepare electronic files according to customer and printer specifications, handling a range of prepress production duties to create high-quality printable graphic files and printing plates for both stock and custom work orders. Your tasks will include custom typesetting, proofreading, and customer support. You will operate and maintain digital presses, including roll-to-roll and large format presses. Accurate reporting and recording of raw material usage and labor on production work orders will be a key part of your role.
You will ensure digital file color and content correction, step and repeat, trapping, and proofing from one to four-color work in various formats. A comprehensive understanding of press requirements for Offset, Flexographic, and Digital presses is essential. Additionally, you may provide backup support to produce photopolymer plates and perform necessary maintenance. Producing high-quality products with minimal scrap, following all safety guidelines, and consistently meeting work order standards are crucial to your role.
Qualifications
We require a high school diploma or equivalent, along with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. You should have at least two years of experience in graphic prepress and one year in digital press operation. A high attention to detail, both in artwork design and grammar, as well as basic math skills, are essential. Physically, you must be able to stand and walk for long periods, lift and carry 50+ pounds, maneuver 4x8 materials, push and pull, and perform bending and squatting tasks.
