Performs a variety of tasks involved with transforming text and pictures into finished pages and making printing plates of the pages. Tasks can involve a variety of unrelated process and may require deviating from standard procedures. These tasks include layout, making corrections, proofreading, digital pate processing, prepress stripping, and troubleshooting, fixing, and preparing client files using PackZ and other software.
Essential Functions
Analyze files provided by clients or in-house teams and assess suitability for printing, checking, and double-checking critical aspects of images and text.
Communicate openly and clearly to discern customers needs and visions and to discuss realistic option’s for realizing that vision with internal customer service team/sales.
Obtain timely approval from customers on proofs and make necessary changes as needed.
Ensure that electronic files are prepared per the needs of selected print department with files located, updated, and controlled by company process.
Ensure correct documents are supplied to manufacturing.
Prepare and format documents for print production, ensuring files meet technical specifications. This includes color management, image optimization and layout adjustments.
Creates page layouts and dummies using computer software with proper pagination, trims, press/gripper margins, lip, bleed and other special press and OPV know out requirements.
Double check proofs for quality, including clarity and alignment, before beginning print run.
Ensure files are organized and stored properly.
Requirements/Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a 4-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
Print industry experience preferred.
Acute attention to detail; demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
Adobe InDesign And Illustrator Experience Preferred.
PackZ software experience preferred.
Knowledge of the digital printing process and print file preparation.
