Company Insight:

A well-established international commodities hedge fund is seeking an experienced Power Trader with a proven track record, to join their front office team. This individual will help pioneer the company’s systematic expansion into natural power, and should be able to demonstrate strong expertise in power trading, an in-depth understanding of market dynamics, and the ability to develop and implement successful trading strategies.

Your role:

  • Assume primary responsibility for overseeing and managing P&L within one or multiple domains of the power industry, ensuring effective financial performance and accountability.
  • Develop, construct, and continuously refine both fundamental and quantitative trading models.
  • Collaborate closely with risk management teams to evaluate and ensure compliance with pre-established risk management metrics.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with senior energy traders, to facilitate the exchange of best practices, where applicable.
  • Continue to grow P&L, while proactively identifying opportunities to expand and diversify existing trades and profit streams.
  • Embrace the flexibility to take on additional responsibilities and initiatives that align with personal interests, strengths, and specialized skills.


Experience/skills required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in power trading and/or electrical engineering is required.
  • Good understanding of power market fundamentals, trading strategies, and risk management principles is essential.
  • Proficiency in analyzing intricate data, spotting trends, and making informed trading decisions.
  • Demonstrated success in trading performance with consistent returns generation, preferably with a documented historical P&L.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and VBA; SQL, Python, statistical modeling, other programming a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment, displaying a high level of adaptability and resilience.
