Job Summary
This position is responsible for using internal tools to manage a broad range of investment data to support the management of PERA’s Fixed Income Investment Portfolio. Assists with financial modeling, reporting, due diligence on potential investments, post-investment monitoring, and other administrative related activities as needed.

Position Title: Portfolio Associate - Fixed Income
Division: Investments Fixed Income
Reports to: Director of Fixed Income
Job Status: Full Time / Exempt
Salary: $95,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience
Posting Dates: 06/26/24 to 07/14/24
This position is responsible for using internal tools to manage a broad range of investment data to support the management of PERA’s Fixed Income Investment Portfolio. Assists with financial modeling, reporting, due diligence on potential investments, post-investment monitoring, and other administrative related activities as needed.
Essential Functions
- Compiles, creates, updates, and maintains financial spreadsheets and reports using a variety of financial and analytical software
- Assists Portfolio Managers and Senior Analysts with trade related duties including pre and post trade compliance, trade entry, and trade execution
- Monitors and updates fixed income and risk positions in Aladdin, Bloomberg and Excel
- Performs portfolio analysis and reporting including positioning relative to the policy benchmark, active risk, and performance attribution
- Works with senior investment professionals to develop additional quantitative and analytical tools to enhance portfolio monitoring and investment due diligence
- Interfaces between colleagues in Investment Operations, Investment Administration, and the Fixed Income Team, including but not limited to providing trade recap, TBA positions for roll requirements and margin
- Ensures data quality and timely reporting
- Contributes to the creation of investment memos, exhibits, and reports
- Participates in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development
- Maintains regular and prompt attendance in the workplace
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related field required
- Progress towards CFA and/or CAIA designation preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years of investment industry experience working directly with portfolio managers and analysts preferred.
- General understanding of financial concepts, markets, principles, and theories
- Understanding of macroeconomics and its influence on investments
- Demonstrated quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective prioritization and time-management skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office, Bloomberg, Aladdin and other financial software applications
- Ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a team environment
- Standard office environment with regular computer and phone use
- Occasional travel as necessary for business purposes
