Port Captain Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee vessel movements within the port, including arrivals, departures, and berthing operations
Plan and allocate resources to ensure timely and efficient handling of vessels, cargo, and personnel
Monitor weather conditions, navigational charts, and port restrictions to ensure safe operations
Communicate with ship captains to provide guidance, updates, and support as needed.
Port Facility Management:
Manage port infrastructure, facilities, and equipment to ensure optimal utilization and maintenance
Collaborate with terminal operators and other service providers to ensure smooth cargo handling operations
Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, security protocols, and environmental standards
Identify and implement improvements to enhance port efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Safety and Compliance:
Promote and enforce adherence to safety procedures and regulations within the port area
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
Ensure compliance with relevant maritime regulations, port bylaws, and international standards
Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement preventive measures.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and lead a team of port operations personnel
