Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Berkeley plant manager leads the team to provide safe, reliable, quality, cost effective products to the customers. This role is designed for a strong technical operational leader that can manage an air separation production site’s production personnel, maintenance, customers and community leaders while achieving the zone targets.
Operate complex facilities safely and reliably by complying with regulatory requirements
Complex facilities generally include multiple plants or technologies, supply criticality, 10 or more direct reports or multiple locations
Lead and develop personnel, manage costs effectively, and developing personal skills and competencies
Operates the facility in compliance with all governmental regulations and Air Liquide policies
Maintains all necessary licenses and permits
Provides all regulatory training and maintains documentation
Reports and investigates all incidents and ensures corrective actions are complete
Ensures that all performance evaluations, hiring, promotions and assignments are free of any form of discrimination.
Operates the Plant Safely and Reliably
Meets or exceeds company safety standards
Implements and maintains the LIVES system
Owns Key Operating Documents; maintains updated red-lines at all times; displays detailed understanding of content and significance of each document
Makes plant and process decisions and performs process troubleshooting; establishes clear delegation of this authority to trained subordinates
Fosters positive customer relationships
Delivers the quality and quantity of product required by the business
Partners with the Reliability Center to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance
Sets and maintains high housekeeping standards to exemplify and improve the Air Liquide image
Keeps plant hazard analysis current and displays thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards

Are you a MATCH?
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree required OR in lieu of degree 10+ years process industry and/ or ASU experience and high school diploma/ equivalent required
Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
Technical and working understanding of the plant process - ASU, NLU, backup systems
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, EEOC guidelines, FDA regulations (where applicable), state and local requirements
Ability to lead root cause analysis investigations
Computer literacy - familiarity with Google suite software, able to remotely access Intranet and learn to use internal systems such as Pilgrim, Evergreen Capital Planning, Maximo and Oracle Cost Reporting
Trainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation and troubleshooting
Able to deliver and explain training material to operating personnel
Extremely organized and effective at time management - able to establish and maintain a plant filing system and control of engineering documents.
Ability to read and red-line key operating documents
Displays mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting
Working knowledge of commercial agreements and AL customer relations
Excellent communication and team leadership skills
General understanding of accounting principles and working knowledge of plant operating budget
Ability to work extended hours and shift work as business needs dictate
On call nights, weekends and holidays as required
Some travel - primarily to Darlington site
Willing to relocate if necessary
