This position is primarily responsible for execution of the overall inspection requirements of the plant. The Inspector works together with the Senior Reliability Engineer and Reliability Manager, as well as utilizes other resources within the plant, such as the Materials and Technology Group, to set appropriate intervals and inspection methods that will ensure mechanical integrity and reliability of plant equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure the pressure vessel, registered pipeline, relief stream, and civil inspection programs comply with plant requirements
  • Ensure compliance of inspection documentation to Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulation requirements.
  • Ensure the plant inspection programs support the reliability and availability targets.
  • Responsible for providing additional training to site maintenance personnel, who function as supplementary inspectors in the roles of quality and mechanical integrity, in times of high inspection period demands.
  • This position is responsible for the inspection program during high activity periods such as Overhauls and short duration, high activity shutdowns.
  • Provide additional technical support to the Maintenance and Operations team as required.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (GED)
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector
  • API/510 Certification
  • 5 years vessel, piping fabrication, and erection experience
  • 2 years vessel and piping inspection experience
  • Working knowledge of ASME & ANSI codes

Level I

Minimum 5 years Inspection or fabrication experience with following certifications:

  • American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector or American Society of Non-Destructive Testing Level II Inspector for VT, RT, UT, MPT
  • Entry Level Inspectors can be considered if working towards these certifications.

Level II (Incumbent Grade 31 NE)

The Above Requirements With The Addition Of

  • American Petroleum Institute 510 (Certified Vessel Inspector)

Level III

All Of The Above Requirements With The Addition Of

  • American Petroleum Institute 570 (Piping Inspection Code)
  • American Petroleum Institute 653 (Atmospheric Storage Tank Code)

Technical Skills

  • Computer skills such as database, spreadsheet, and word processing experience are necessary.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate experiences and ideas to a written format.

  • Strong organizational skills
  • High standards of performance for quality, safety, and environmental performance
  • Highly motivated and independent
  • Open-mindedness, Objectiveness, Root cause failure analysis.
