PK-12 Curriculum Supervisor

Position Title: PK-12 Curriculum Supervisor

Classification: RSAA - Range 5

Reports To: Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Supervises: Various administrative/support personnel within areas of responsibility

Position Goal: To provide leadership and direction in developing, maintaining, supervising, and evaluating the District’s K-12 curriculum and academic programming to ensure that the curriculum is meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education and 1- 3 years school-level administrative experience required.
  • Pennsylvania Instructional II in a core content area and Administrative certification required. Pennsylvania Curriculum and Instruction certification is preferred.
  • Experience in school improvement planning and successful implementation.
  • Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum development, student scheduling, and management of instructional programs.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, methods, research, and technology.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all departments to provide for a comprehensive educational program.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and leadership skills evidencing the ability to effectively lead and supervise others and to work with varied constituencies.
  • Proven planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong skills in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data for a variety of audiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of this position include, but are not

Limited To, The Following Fundamental Duties

  • Assist in the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of curriculum and related assessments for Pre-K to 12 following the District's board-approved curriculum review cycle.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff, and provide expertise and leadership in the development of a unified district-wide curriculum ensuring horizontal and vertical alignment.
  • Coordinate various curriculum-related activities and foster a creative and supportive environment for curriculum development, related assessments, professional growth, and articulation of instructional programs between school levels.
  • Assists in the collection and analysis of performance data, including, but not limited to, State and District assessment regarding the achievement of students, work samples, and other pertinent information affecting the design and evaluation of curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Work cooperatively and collectively with principals, department chairpersons, and teachers to ensure that instructional programs and services are coordinated in the schools and are administered uniformly and equitably.
  • In collaboration with building principals, observe classroom instruction to evaluate curriculum implementation (content, materials, pedagogy, pacing and standards), student performance, and program effectiveness.
  • Support school improvement efforts at the district and school levels.
  • Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep abreast of current practices, programs, and legal issues associated with areas of responsibility.
  • Provide educational leadership, administrative direction, support, guidance, and technical assistance for the District’s curriculum and academic programs.
  • Facilitate the preparation, editing, and distribution of all curriculum guides, maintain a list of approved instructional materials and manage digital resources that support those materials.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel and agencies associated with the District.
  • Conduct meetings and professional development as necessary to inform professionals about current educational research, technology, and materials
  • Perform such other duties as requested/assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of School Improvement and/or Superintendent of Schools or their designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time (12-month) exempt position. Salary and benefits consistent with the District’s approved Compensation and Benefits Plan.
