Summary -

We are seeking a strategic, conceptual thinker with a strong background in branding and layout design for beauty and fashion brands. As a Freelance Art Director, you will collaborate with the Creative Director to support the visual positioning and representation of brands and channels. Your work will encompass full-scale model and product photo shoots, as well as branded graphic design. You'll partner with Copywriters, Marketing, and Production teams to ensure that all creative goals are met and aesthetics are maintained.

Roles & Responsibilities -

  • Develop and execute brand visuals with innovative and modern content across all beauty and fashion channels and selling vehicles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strong creative concepts and executions for product launches that adhere to project briefs.
  • Maintain an elevated taste level and a deep understanding of current beauty, fashion, and design trends and their business implications.
  • Create tight comps that effectively represent creative direction, graphic design, and typography, ensuring brand clarity and message.
  • Prepare and art direct numerous still-life and model photo shoots, including creating shoot decks.
  • Independently lead external agencies, stylists, photographers, and other creative partners.
  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of completion to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Maintain a strong eye for innovation and what’s next in the industry.

Minimum Qualifications -

  • 8+ years of experience in creative development and execution of print/digital promotions within the beauty/fashion industry.
  • Experience in both model and product photo shoots, including model casting, styling, lighting, sets, and props.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Knowledge of Flash and HTML is a plus.
  • Highly creative with the ability to generate modern ideas and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong experience in cross-functional collaboration and team settings.
  • A portfolio showcasing solid skills in both design and conceptual thinking for print.
  • An elevated taste level with expertise in design, photography, and typography.
  • Experience in the print production cycle and retouching.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present designs and concepts to senior management.
