Summary
The Senior Photographer/Photo Editor in collaboration with the UCM creative team, produces and edits photography for marketing campaigns, websites, print publications, news coverage, social media, university headshots, event coverage and other uses as needed as well as assisting in hiring of freelance photographers. This position works collaboratively with the UCM social media team, PR and publications team, videographers, and freelance photographers to produce visual content in support of the university's overall communications efforts. The Senior Photographer/Photo Editor must have professional level of expertise in digital editing, workflow, and color management as well as be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, and must develop concepts and capture photographs in studio, classroom and field environments, using both natural and artificial lighting, as well as a knowledge of Video Production. This position should be able to manage their time efficiently, and be able to deliver high quality photos in a timely manner. This position must be willing to work evenings and weekends, work well both independently and collaboratively, and have the ability to work with a variety of diverse individuals across the university, including students, faculty, and staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- This role will be responsible for delivering the highest quality retouching, compositing, image prepping, proofing, quality control, color correcting and color matching for print (CMYK) and digital (RGB) imagery.
- Knowledge of Video Editing and Video Production.
- Proficient in use of photography and lighting equipment (in the studio, on location, and on-camera lighting systems), as well as planning, shooting, production and editing, using appropriate software systems such as Adobe Creative Suite especially Photoshop and Lightroom.
- Proficient research, writing and editing skills.
- Working knowledge of Associated Press style.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and collaborative skills.
- Strong skills in time management, multitasking, prioritizing, digital file organizing, researching and problem solving, with great attention to detail.
- Must be able to work cooperatively effectively with internal and external affiliates.
- Knowledge of how to shoot and edit video preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree and five (5 ) years of directly related experience to include photography, photo editing, writing, research, and project management
- High School Diploma/Equivalent and eight (8) years of directly related experience to include photography, photo editing, writing, research, and project management.
- Proven experience in shooting and editing well-composed photos for a wide range of communications and marketing purposes, including portraits, candids, environmentals and event photography.
- Familiarity with Macintosh computer system.
- Familiarity with web-based Content Management Systems.
- Familiarity with social media best practices for photography
