The Photo Editor will be in charge of the images for multiple book projects from start to finish. The Photo Editor will work closely with designers and editors to ensure the execution of the project deliverables. This role is located at 34th and Park Ave, NY 10016. You are required to be in the office 5 days a week. We are unable to complete any relocation requests.


Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct comprehensive photo research for each book title assigned.

· Work closely with design and editorial departments for the execution of each project.

· Work directly with clients, keeping track of the schedule for assets’ deliverables.

· Maintain a clear and organized folder structure.

· Clear rights and permissions for all images.

· Clear rights with artists and models, as necessary.

· Draft, archive, and manage photography agreements.

· Acquire and manage high-resolution files.

· Negotiate rates and maintain photo budgets; set up new vendors and manage invoices with accounting for all photo payments.

· Research new talent in photography, art and illustration for work for hire.

· Contract photographers and illustrators for original work.

· Write credits and acknowledgements.

· Gather all the required information for the contributor copies.


Requirements:

· Exceptional research skills –knowledge of varied image sources (stock agencies, museums, artist’s catalogs, archives, historical societies)

· Must have knowledge in subjects ranging from fashion, design, and art; to travel and lifestyle.

· Able to work independently and prioritize tasks.

· Attention to schedules and deadlines.

· Strong visual, communication and organizational skills.

· Expertise in Excel and the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge)

· High-level familiarity with fine arts and artists, photographers, film, social culture, and subjects pertaining to Assouline’ s publishing list.

· Experience managing photo budgets and processing invoices and contracts.

· Knowledge of copyright, licenses, and permissions.

· Adapt to the operational/administrative tasks and workflows established for the department.

· Able to multi-task and work well under pressure.

· Concise and effective written and verbal communication.

The appointed candidate will be offered a salary of $70,000-$80,000. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
