The Outpatient Pharmacy Sr. Buyer is responsible for overseeing the day to day pharmaceutical acquisition process and ensuring that the pharmacy is adequately stocked with medications and supplies. The Outpatient Pharmacy Sr Buyer is accountable for routine controlled drug purchases, special non-stock purchases, and for searching for supply of needed items even when the item is unavailable from routine vendors. In meeting these responsibilities, the Outpatient Pharmacy Sr. Buyer will incorporate various factors such as product specifications, clinical considerations, product availability, cost reduction strategies and quality assurance as part of his/her purchasing function. Resolves purchasing problems and facilitates processes to prevent reoccurrence of problems. Meets regulatory needs related to drug recalls and medication shortages. The Outpatient Pharmacy Sr. Buyer will oversee inventory compliance across all sites and address issues as they arise, including diversion and shrinkage.
Education
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Licensed/registered pharmacy technician in the State of Vermont required for entry into secure areas.
Experience
At least three years of experience in pharmacy or purchasing required. May substitute equivalent experience with previous work in distribution. A background in an Academic Medical Center setting is preferred.
