Who You Are

We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Fitness Instructor. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.

Position Summary

The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for developing and providing structured health promotion/wellness and fitness programs throughout the community. This is a Part-time/PRN position.

Accountabilities

  • Manage Fitness Center including maintaining cleaning of equipment, maintain waivers and Liability forms and other duties related to the fitness center’s success.
  • Lead safe and effective group exercise classes with focus on maintaining optimal class attendance and maximal client fitness results.
  • Provide regular fitness screens, including follow-up plan and report.
  • Conduct safe, effective and goal oriented one-on-one fitness training sessions with Longhorn residents.
  • When referred from Therapy, follow therapy recommendations and provide updates weekly on patient’s status to the therapy director/team.
  • Refer clients to therapy services if there is a change in condition to your client’s overall function.
  • Report any changes in condition to the charge nurse, wellness director and/or Health and Wellness Navigator or therapy team if indicated.
  • Complete any reports, surveys, analysis as it relates to resident participation in individual or group exercises.
  • Create and maintain marketing flyers for bulletin boards, newsletters and other requested mediums.
  • Develop and present health awareness topics to the Independent Living residents to optimize their health and wellness.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have the ability to follow diet instructions and menus, know basic methods of preparing food in quantities, and are familiar with seasoning requirements.
  • Must have a general knowledge of routine diets or where to find needed information.
  • Must know how to operate kitchen equipment and use utensils to greatest advantage.
