The Opportunity

The Land Use Permitting Coordinator plays a key role in securing land use entitlements for electric vehicle charger projects nationwide. You'll collaborate with clients and jurisdictions to navigate the permitting process, ensuring all land use and building approvals are obtained efficiently. Your expertise in land-use regulations and strong vendor management skills will be essential to driving projects forward and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient project delivery by directly interfacing with EV charger clients, stakeholders, and development teams to achieve contracted goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of EV charging station development projects, including permit and entitlement approvals. This involves managing tasks from start to finish, such as coordinating with architects and engineers (A&E), zoning and permitting processes, building and electrical permits, and utility coordination for EV charging infrastructure (EVCI).
  • Conduct thorough research on permitting requirements related to land use viability for EV charger stations. Utilize expertise to ensure projects comply with local and state regulations.
  • Effectively communicate with local and state government agencies to advocate for EV charging station projects and support related permitting goals.
  • Coordinate and supervise a network of external vendors, including environmental engineers, architectural & engineering firms (A&E), title search firms, engineers, and drafting technicians. This ensures timely permit approvals for EV charger installations.
  • Prepare comprehensive zoning and permitting applications for EV charging stations, ensuring all necessary information is included.
  • Monitor the progress of permit applications and proactively address any jurisdictional requests for additional information related to EV charger installations.
  • Secure land use and zoning permits required for EV charger station projects.
  • Obtain necessary building and electrical permits for EV charger station construction.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project files for EV charger installations. Ensure timely distribution of closeout documents that adhere to client standards.
  • Compile comprehensive due diligence packages for selected EV charger station sites. These packages include zoning maps, parcel maps, street maps, and any other relevant documentation.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in land use, planning, or permitting.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience securing civil and electrical engineering entitlements.
  • Permitting Prowess: Ability to obtain zoning approvals, easements, encroachments, and construction permits from local municipalities.
  • Drawing & Survey Savvy: Strong skills in reading and interpreting surveys and construction drawings.
  • Regulatory Acumen: A clear understanding of zoning principles and land use regulations, tailoring your approach to specific client needs.
  • Project Management & Communication: Ability to effectively manage tasks and deadlines, utilize existing project management tools for data entry, and deliver daily reports on project progress and developments.
  • Communication Champion: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Public Presentation Expertise: Ability to deliver clear and compelling presentations to public audiences.
  • Teamwork & Independence: Thrives in both collaborative and independent work environments.
