The position will be part of our Magic Valley Quality team that consists of Infection Prevention, Medication Safety, Performance Improvement, Accreditation and Post Acute Services. There is one other Patient Safety Specialist that this role will work closely with to ensure completeness of the adverse events. This position reports to the Quality manager but the role is also closely supervised by the Quality Director. We have a close nit team that works well together and this position will become well versed in all the areas of Quality.

As a Patient Safety Specialist - RN, you will receive reports regarding adverse actions/safety events and are responsible for monitoring and tracking processes that need improvement. You will partner with unit leaders to prevent events from occurring again by creating action plans and providing education to staff.

What You Can Expect

  • Exempt/Salaried; Full-time Days (Mon-Fri)
  • No nights, weekends, or St. Luke’s observed holidays
  • Utilizes nursing practice, skills, concepts and/or methodologies to address patient safety opportunities.
  • Possesses and applies competent/solid working knowledge of subject matter; typically handles more complex issues and applies independent decision making; deals with long-term/bigger-picture goals and objectives; independent in leading multi-department; typically facilitates teams composed of one or more departments, service line or site based.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Nursing Degree
  • Experience: 2 year's relevant experience (prefer inpatient charge nurse/leadership experience to include chart review relating to patient safety events; performance improvement experience helpful)
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice
