Job Description
NBC News Digital is looking for an editorial assistant to help expand its commerce content and shopping recommendations on NBC Select, the online shopping destination on NBC News. We’re looking for a detail-oriented and hyper-organized editorial assistant who wants to help NBC News readers make smarter and more responsible shopping decisions. You’ll get first-hand experience working in our CMS, helping our editorial operations team and creating shopping content. You will participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with fellow editorial staff, social teams, operations teams and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be interested in and eager to learn about commerce content and how to best serve readers through shopping articles. The ideal candidate will have some editorial
experience and is familiar working in a CMS. They should be able to multi-task and have good communication skills.
Responsibilities
Participate in regular editorial meetings
General administrative duties including meeting planning and scheduling
Work on assignments at the direction of editors and the editorial operations team
Build commerce posts in the CMS
Support reporters and editors with additional data collection and reporting as needed
Research, write and produce shopping articles
Pitch and write news/deals content in a timely way
Please Note: This is a project/limited term position expected to last through the end of July 2024 unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. Salary range: $24.00-$28.00 (overtime eligible)
Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience with CMS and editorial workflows
At least 1 year of experience writing and experience at a news brand is a plus
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
Passion for digital storytelling and creating the best user experience online
Skills
Firm grasp of AP Style: spelling, grammar and punctuation
Proficiency with general CMS practices
Experience with editorial project management
Attention to detail and ability to make quick decisions
Ability to manage many different tasks at once
SEO knowledge
Knowledge of affiliate marketing platforms including Skimlinks, Amazon, Linkshare, and Rakuten a plus
