Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Brief Description

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Nystrom & Associates, you will be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Therapists.

We are a team of mental health professionals who specialize in psychiatric evaluations, clinical social work, and family therapy. We are committed to helping patients in our community who are experiencing personal, emotional, marriage, family, or psychological problems. Founded in 1991, we offer an intensive outpatient substance use disorder program, psychological testing, and behavioral health and medication management services.

Hours: Up to full-time, flexible hours; able to set your hours based on caseload and your desired schedule.

Days: Monday – Friday

Job Responsibilities

Provide Occupational Therapy Services:

  • Work with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Complete thorough evaluation of new clients and develop individualized goals related to activities of daily living, independent living skills, executive functioning skills, coping skills/regulation, social skills, sensory processing, and leisure participation.
  • Conduct 1:1 treatment sessions with adolescent and adult clients who have a variety of psychosocial and/or cognitive concerns.
  • Provide home program suggestions as needed and appropriate.
  • Maintain communication with referring physician and other providers (mental health therapists, social workers, skills workers, teachers, etc.) through progress reports and other forms of communication as needed.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as appropriate or required.

Professionalism

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Currently credentialed with major insurance companies, or willing to become credentialed (Nystrom and Associates will assist in this process)
  • Maintain professional competency by completing relevant continuing education

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Mental health experience preferred (will consider new graduates with level II psychosocial fieldwork experience)
  • NBCOT certification as an OTR. Current MN licensure (will consider a new graduate willing to apply for a temporary license)

Skills and Qualifications Required: Have a working knowledge of psychosocial occupational therapy techniques and assessment tools used in the evaluation of adolescents and adults, be compassionate and understanding, have great communication skills, be a team player, have good time management skills, be able to work independently, have basic computer skills, and physically be able to participate in therapy sessions. This includes being able to lift 10-25lbs frequently; 25-50lbs occasionally; and over 50lbs rarely and with help.
