Responsibilities
Manage and execute the semi-monthly payroll processes accurately and on time for an organization of 200+ employees
Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness
Post labor costs to the appropriate cost centers or projects
Coordinate efforts between HR and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data, including preparation /distribution of detailed reports
Handle employee administration within electronic time keeping system (Jamis)
Reconcile labor batches against payroll journal entries
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
Prepare and submit payroll reports and filings as required
Proven experience as a payroll administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll principles and practices.
Knowledge of government contracting requirements and compliance issues related to payroll
Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, especially those relevant to government contractors
Add new employees into accounting software, and maintain/ensure employee data is accurate and up to date
Prepare, process and ensure the accuracy of all year-end payroll requirements
Process accruals
Manage state registration process
Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting, reconciliation and analysis as needed
Assist in administrative and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Experience with multi-state payroll administration
Three (3) plus years in payroll performing all payroll functions
Knowledge of multiple-state taxation is a must
Excellent skills using MS Word and Excel
Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll system
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
Excellent problem-solving skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Experience with large scale payroll process
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with JAMIS, Paychex or ADP preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
Experience with implementation of a new payroll system preferred
