Payment Posting Specialist

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

We are seeking a Payment Posting Specialist to complete payment entry in a timely and accurate manner. Our ideal candidate is an analytical thinker, detail oriented, has a proven track record in accuracy, and utilizes effective communication skills. Consistently meet or exceed productivity standards, targets, error ratios, and reporting requirements as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor.

What You'll Do:

  • Assessment of insurance remittances including deductibles, contractual write-offs, recoupments, refunds, interest payments and post them efficiently and accurately.
  • Cash payment posting for self-pay accounts
  • Monitor payment trends and identify nonpaid claims, forwarding denials to Patient Account Representative II.
  • Ensures payments posted match batch report totals and troubleshoot discrepancies as necessary.
  • Review overpaid accounts and prepares to process refunds, adjustments, etc. to bring account to appropriate balance.
  • Perform daily, systematic reviews of work lists to ensure all accounts to be worked are completed.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service through oral and written communication in providing assistance/expertise to patients, authorized guarantors, and other external and internal contacts.
  • Practice HIPAA privacy standards and ensure compliance with patient health information privacy practices.
  • Provide individual contribution to the overall team effort of achieving the department accounts receivable goals.
  • Identify opportunities for system and process improvement and submit to management.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of systems and execution of processes in all areas of responsibilities.
  • Assist the Revenue Cycle Supervisor with special projects and other duties as assigned, as necessary.

Who You Are:

  • Have a High School Diploma.
  • Have 2 years related work experience or college degree.
  • Have experience in cash application and posting, third party payor guidelines and reimbursement practices.
  • Have a background in electronic reconciliation processes.
  • Have working knowledge of physician and facility billing including understanding of insurance rules and regulations
  • Have knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Have excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression.
  • Have basic knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
  • Have extensive experience and knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Have the ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
  • Have the ability to learn and adapt quickly and meet continuous timelines. Have 2 + years college or college degree. (preferred)
  • Have two (2) years progressive work experience in a hospital/ physician billing or SBO environment. (preferred)
  • Are detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed. (preferred)
  • Have strong time management skills, managing multiple priorities and a heavy workload in a high-stress atmosphere. (preferred)
  • Have flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work needs. (preferred)
  • Have high-level problem solving, analytical, and investigational skills. (preferred)
  • Have excellent internal/external customer service skills. (preferred)
