Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Billing Specialist. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of statements and claims for our physician practices. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with various departments, communicating with patients and insurance companies, and maintaining high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

Process statements according to departmental schedule for an assigned group of practices.

Review billing reports to ensure all patients receive statements.

Coordinate with practices to perform daily close functions and report any issues promptly.

Assist in processing paper claims and obtaining necessary documentation.

Collaborate with EDI Specialist to review edit reports and address practice inquiries.

Identify opportunities for piggyback filing to Medicare and communicate findings to management.

Adhere to company's "Code of Conduct" philosophy and uphold our mission and values.

Provide courteous and prompt phone support to patients following quality standards.

Research and resolve patient inquiries and discrepancies effectively.

Assist walk-in patients with questions, concerns, or payments.

Document all patient interactions and promises made during phone calls.

Process correspondence from patient statements and rush refund requests accurately.

Communicate payment guidelines and set up recurring patient payments as needed.

Verify claims status using insurance company websites and resolve processing issues.

Coordinate with coding staff to ensure accurate claims coding and appeal completion.

Review payment plan accounts and initiate necessary actions according to policy.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.

Foster professional and friendly communication with staff, patients, and external parties.

Deliver exceptional customer service in all interactions and serve as a resource to colleagues.

Assist in achieving individual, team, and company goals.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Completion of a one-year certificate program from college or technical school OR at least one year of medical billing experience/training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Of One Year Of Relevant Experience Required.

Certification or license not required.
