Part Time Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Water Safety Instructor to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Natatorium Facility in the Parks and Recreation department.

The Part-Time Water Safety Instructor earns a competitive salary of $13.93 - $15.08/hour, based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center and employee assistance program.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A PART-TIME WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary

The purpose of this class within the organization is to teach and enable someone to swim, clean the pool facility, ensure the safety of rescue equipment and pool chemistry, and to provide first aid as needed.

This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Essential Functions

• Instruct participants in swimming and provide safety precaution information.
• Teaches all aspects of swimming including basic survival skills to coaching competitive swim teams.
• Checks pool chemicals.
• Cleans and maintains pool and facilities.
• Sets up for swim meets and rentals.
• Focuses on different skills and techniques.
• Supervises patrons use of the pool and pool equipment, and responds to emergencies and general first aid needs to ensure patron safety.
• Performs related work as assigned.

• Entry level education for this position does not require completion of high school.
